As a self-proclaimed “foodie”, I definitely fall into most of the typical stereotypes- love trying new things, love finding new products, love pushing my favorite products & food combinations on friends and family, and love rabbit food/ health food/ health food that tastes good.
Besides the personality stereotypes, there are also foodie FOOD stereotypes we are all known to love. Kale, oatmeal, almond milk…to name a few. [And yes, I love all three!]
But then there are foods that many foodies looooove, and I want to looooove them. But I don’t. Maybe sometimes I eat it because it’s healthy, or because I feel like I should, but they definitely are NOT my go-to foods.
1. Greek yogurt. I know, I know. You see Greek yogurt on here from time to time. I don’t hate it, but it’s definitely one of the “feel like I should eat this” foods. Especially plain Greek yogurt- too tangy! I’ll reluctantly eat it with fruit and cereal. Sweetened Greek yogurt is more tolerable with cereal/ peanut butter or fruit [or in a smoothie!]. If I’m going to eat it, it’s gotta be 2% (or more) and Chobani. I much rather have regular yogurt.
I like the idea of hummus, and sometimes I like the taste. But when I buy it, or it’s in the fridge, it just sits there. I never grabs veggies or pita and dip it in hummus. Not my thing. (However, homemade, fresh hummus is a whole other story! That stuff is awesome).
And all fake-meat products, for that matter. Blech. Fake meat gives me the heebie-jeebies.
4. Nutritional yeast.
It tastes like cheese powder, which is what it’s supposed to taste like and it sounds like it could be good, but just like seitan…it freaks me out a little. Maybe I’m not using it right?
5. Coconut Water
This one breaks my heart the most. Coconut water. It just sounds so delicious and refreshing. I want to be able to drink cold coconut water during the summer or gulp it down after a tough workout. But I just don’t like it. I have tried it multiple times and it always tastes cheesy to me. Cheesy is not refreshing!
