Hey there! Wow, it’s been quite some time since I’ve been on here because I’ve been doing a lot of traveling, then my parents were here and every day was full of tourist things, lots of menu del día and family time. It was the first time the whole family was together in a long time, and it was so nice! I wish my parents lived here full time 🙂 
After my trip home, my parents flew into Madrid just 30 hours after I arrived. It was a whirlwind 30 hours of trying to tie up some loose ends, and then they were here and just a few hours later, we were off again! To sunny Mallorca… that wasn’t so sunny for a part of it, unfortunately.
We spent the days visiting various beaches and towns, and sitting around just chatting. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- the hardest part of living in Spain is being ‘away’. Even with Facetime and all that, nothing replaces being in the same room with your family (and other times it drives me mad 😉 )
On our first day in Mallorca, after everyone slept in (so late!), we had breakfast on our terrace.
We stayed in Alcudia, which was a good choice since it was easy to drive to various beaches, but if you have a car, Mallorca is very very easy to navigate.
On the first day, we went to Cala San Vicente, which is an area that includes various amazing coves including Playa Cala Clara, Playa de Cala Molins, and a couple others and each one is walkable from one to the next.
Day two in Mallorca brought colder weather, so we opted to visit the old town of Alcudia, which was beautiful and worth a visit if you find yourself in Mallorca on a cooler day. Walk the wall around the city, meander the old streets, look at the buildings, and then head out.
In the afternoon, we visited Artá, which made us laugh because the town was completely EMPTY and after trying to follow signs for the “center”, we kept walking back and forth looking for something, only to realize that maybe THIS WAS THE CENTER??? We had a drink in a square we found while watching all of the little kids play.
On day 3 in Mallorca, we had a RAINY day! Boo! But we made the most of it by visiting Soller and the Port of Soller. I had been to Soller 2 times before, but had never been to the Port and it was beautiful! Worth a visit for a stroll and a nice lunch on the water.
That afternoon, it POURED, so we headed home for a cozy night in. I took a nap!
The fourth day was our last day in Mallorca and it turned out to be beautiful and sunny. After packing up the Airbnb, we headed out to the beach. We wanted to head towards Palma, since that’s where the airport is and we would need to be there later that night. We crossed the island (only takes about 45 minutes by car) and headed to Portals Nous to check it out. The beach itself was tiny, but there was a nice pathway that allows you to walk all the way to Port Portals, which is a port with huge, beautiful yachts and “where the Royals choose to vacation”.
We ended up walking back and driving over to Port Portals before deciding that although the yachts are nice, we prefer to look at the water while eating.
We got back in the car and drove to Palma Nova, thanks to my Mom. This ending up being a great idea beacuse they had decent lunch spots and AMAZING views.
After a yummy lunch and lots of walking, we made our way back to the car to take a quick drive through Palma and then go to the airport. FYI, We rented a car through Wiber after doing lots of research and reading reviews. They are very highly recommended because of low wait times, friendly staff, and low scamming, but BEWARE- if you use them and choose not to purchase their insurance, make sure you take a photo of every single ding, scratch, mark, bump, stain, etc., on the car! They will do a VERY VERY thorough inspection (while you are there) and any mark they find, you can be held responsible. Luckily, we had a photo of a small scratch that was on the car when we got it, but had we not had it, this scratch less than 2 cm in length would have been 200€ to fix!
Anyway, we dropped off the car and waited in the airport. By the time we got back to Madrid, it was almost midnight and we were beat. Luis was kind enough to pick us all up, so after getting everyone home, I crashed hard.
The next day, we walked around the Rastro and I introduced my Dad to the Madrid bar scene and some queso cabrales. 
Then we had lunch with Luis’ fam and my fam (talk about fun times… haha…actually it was fine, but I was so nervous! But it was fine!) and then we all called it a night around 8 (yes, that’s how long lunch took!).
I don’t have many other photos to share from our week, but I spent a lot of time with my parents during the day- doing tours, visiting museums, and eating a lot.
And then at night, we would meet with my hermano for dinner together as a family <3
