North Conway, White Mountains

Boulder Loop Trail

If you’re just catching up, click here to read about our first day in Boston here.

On the second leg of our road trip, we drove from Boston to the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  After being in a city, we were ready for some nature and the White Mountains fit the bill!  Boulder Loop Trail

After morning breakfast at the hotel, we stopped at the visitor center to learn about the hikes in the area and after talking to the woman working there, we decided on the Boulder Loop Trail, which was listed under the “Easy” category and ended up being very NOT easy – at least for the older folks 😉Boulder Loop Trail

We realized at the top that the trail we picked was the most difficult of the easy hikes with a 950 foot climb, but with frequent breaks, we made it to the top and the views were wonderful!

The whole loop (which ended up not being a loop because we went down the same way we went up because some kind people told us that it was easier and less steep) took us about 3 hours to complete.  When we got back to the car, we stopped to grab some ingredients to make sandwiches and then enjoy the sandwiches back at the hotel before driving up to Mount Washington, only to realize we were there too late and would come back the next day.  Instead, we spent the afternoon walking around the little town of North Conway before having a late dinner at Horsefeathers.

I think we can all agree that people only eat French onion soup to be able to eat copious amounts of cheese….

In the morning, we had breakfast and then packed up to head towards MONTREAL!  But first, a stop for bagels and a little “research”.  We tried a maple oat bagel with cream cheese and it was delicious!

More from Montreal coming soon.
