I have been to Taberna Más al Sur many times. It’s a place I bring friends and family when they come to visit, and a place that I always recommend to guests on my tours. It has a good atmosphere, delicious food, and great prices. You can’t beat that!
- Address: Calle de Santa Isabel, 35, 28012 Madrid
- Atmosphere: Very relaxed, the waiters are super friendly, and the food comes out fast and is inexpensive and good! They have a nice wine selection, so if there are no tables available, cozy up to the bar with some wine while you wait.
- Type of food: Spanish fusion raciones and tapas. They have a number of half portions available, so this is an awesome place to buy a bunch of food and share with everyone.
- What I had: I have been to Mas al Sur many times, and I always order: the mushroom risotto (I want to be buried in a vat of this), the ropa vieja, the chicken curry, and they have nice salads, as well! I usually order half portions, since the full portions are very big.
- Other observations: make a reservation if you plan to go with a large group. It’s also worth checking out their other locations: Al Sur (Lavapiés) and their new Huertas location.
Rating: 9.5/10 for food (only because I don’t love everything), 9/10 for atmosphere (very casual). 10/10 value for money. I would absolutely go back.
