Sometimes it’s difficult to branch out of the usual tapas and drinks rotation that is so available (and delicious, obviously) in Madrid. Week after week, and day after day, we choose the restaurants and bars that serve up Spanish food with Spanish flavors. Spaniards don’t do much branching out when it comes to cuisine, but Madrid DOES have a lot of international restaurants to try, so Luis and I gave (new to me) Peruvian restaurant a go. The place is called El Inti de Oro, and since I spent a month living in Peru before moving to Spain, I like to think I’m well-versed in good Peruvian food. I guess the completely packed restaurant with a un-budging wait list was also a good sign. If you are looking for international food in Madrid, or more specifically, Peruvian food in Madrid, give this place a go. The prices were reasonable, the waitresses had the temperament of…Peruvian women and the food was great.
- Address: Calle Ventura de la Vega, 12, 28014 Madrid, Spain
- Phone number: +34 914 29 67 03
- Atmosphere: Bright, modestly decorated, old style, traditional
- Type of food: Peruvian, international, traditional, filling.
- What you should order: Order a ‘pisco sour’ to start and the order the traditional ceviche (shown above). We also ordered Seco de Res Limeño to split, which was decent, as well.
- Other comments: Although the place didn’t feel overly crowded, they won’t accept tables if they are full. Make a reservation in advance, but it’s probably not necessary to do it way in advance. We did it the same day.
- Tip: Since Peruvian food is probably something different for you, order a couple different plates and then share it with your table.
Rating: 8/10 for food, 7/10 for atmosphere. Delicious place for Peruvian food in Madrid!
