Good morning!
Guess what I did yesterday?! I did a CrossFit workout and it was AWESOME. I have wanted to try CrossFit ever since I saw it on Tina’s blog a few months ago. It looked challenging, fast-paced, rewarding, and there is always a new workout. AND they say you make really great friends at CrossFit gyms. All those things sounded good to me, so after begging my friends to go try it with me with no luck, I decided to try it on my own!
When I first got there, it looked like an old warehouse. There wasn’t even a sign to indicate that there was a CrossFit gym there, but when I saw a woman stretching outside, I knew I was in the right place.
Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and I could tell that they are open to people of all fitness levels and abilities. The trainer helped me modify the pull-ups because I’m not quite ready to do them on my own. She also showed me how to do each exercise in the warm up and I was sweating before the warm up was over…
Then we got to the actual WOD (I don’t know what that stands for…). We did a 30, 20, 10 workout with overhead lunges, pull-ups and burpees. Sheesh, it was tough! I was shaking, sweating, and grinning because it was FUN! It was really, really hard, and I had to stop for breaks periodically, but it was so much fun.
I think I would really enjoy incorporating CrossFit into my workout routine, but right now, I can’t really justify the price. Yes, it’s a great workout and I would love to meet new people, but the price for one drop-in class is more than I pay for a month at my gym. Maybe one day in the future when I have a more significant income!
After the class, I ran an easy two miles before calling it quits and heading in for some breakfast.
Breakfast
I quickly prepped a serving of Trader Joe’s Multigrain Oatmeal and then added cheese, an egg, tomato slices and Israeli olives. With a sliced, juicy peach on the side.Mmmmmmm
Off to work for the rest of the day!
[Edited to add: My upper body is SO sore. In a good way]
