Do Good, Feel Good Workout

Gooooood morning and happy Friday!

I’m going to type this out as fast as I can handle since I have to leave for a long day at work in a half hour.  The long days are rough and exhausting, but they’re also a lot of fun and I get to do it all over again tomorrow for a 13 hour day at work, but then I’m going to the BEACH!  Woo!

Workout

Like yesterday, I woke up today feeling less than motivated to go out and run X miles or spend time at the gym, but since I’m going away this weekend, I knew I should get there today.  I ran a very slow four miles, but despite the slow pace, the time passed quickly thanks to a little habit that I have developed.  I have been making an effort to pick up stray pieces of trash that I see along the major roads I run.  I see a piece of trash, squat down, and jump back up to continue running.  After I pick up a few pieces of trash, I go run and try to find a trashcan.  I only did this for the first mile or so because it does get exhausting and there are only so many weird looks I can handle for a day 😉

I know it may seem weird, but it keeps things interesting for me and it helps make my community look nicer, which is always a good thing.  A few pieces of trash go a long way!

After the four miles, I was wiped and ready to go home, but I decided to stay and do a series of back exercises followed by a few ab exercises.  I’ll be sore tomorrow!

Breakfast

I came home to find that both of my parents were still home, which put a damper on my plans to make peach muffins since my mom is cooking.  Oh well!  I made the usual oatmeal + fruit and took it to the usual place that I eat breakfast when I’m alone–I mindlessly eat in front of the computer while I check e-mail and other blogs.  My favorite time of the day 🙂

In case you’re wondering, here’s what my breakfast actually looks like on most mornings:ImageImage  It’s not as pretty as some of the other photos, but tastes just as good.

Oatmeal & oat bran, peach slices, fig slices, blueberries, cinnamon, coconut-almond milk and a big blob of peanut butter.

Fun fact: I never actually mix the peanut butter into the oatmeal.  I save it for last and then eat it in one big spoonful.

Alrighty, I’m off to pack up my lunch and jump in the shower before work.  Before I go, check out this bug (???) my dad found on a walk with the dog a couple days ago.  We have NEVER seen anything like it.ImageImage

It may look like I little piece of fluff, but it was moving incredibly fast.  Crazy!

Have a great weekend 🙂Image
