Hello from a very, very hot Friday. The air is hot and dry here in Madrid (better than hot and humid), but rough without a pool! I am working from home today because if I go to any of the restaurants, I will end up working and I have stuff to get done on the computer. I don’t know how people work from home as the norm. It’s certainly nice for a day or a few hours, but I have to fight the urge to take a little nap or to watch Netflix in the middle of the day. If I had more to get done, I would be more focused, but summer is in full swing and I am feeling it in terms of workload. Anyway, we have some weekend plans (lunch with different groups of friends) both Saturday and Sunday, which is great because it’s just enough structure to get me up in the morning, go to the gym, and get a couple things done before hanging with friends the rest of the day.
Anyways…updates:
An ad for a beer company was filmed in Mazál! Pretty cool experience and crazy just how much work goes into what we see as short ads on TV. There were about 20 people working for over 10 hours on a 20 second ad. Makeup, wardrobe, directors, anxious people. Cool experience.

We went to Menorca and it was the best trip ever. Maybe not ever, but it was great.

Some of my friends had gifted me 2 nights in a glamping with KAMPAOH. I saw they opened a new site in Menorca and decided to use my voucher there. Kampaoh puts their boujee tents on already existing campsites. There are beds, towels, sheets, a chair, a place to hang your clothes, so it’s for people who like camping, but don’t want to have to work for it. Ie: me.

After a weekend in the tent, it’s safe to say that I think I like camping in cabins (like where I stayed with my parents in Denali, Alaska) and when you treat camping like camping (sitting outside enjoying nature, etc). We used the camping like a dirty, bug-filled hotel (what I mean by that is that we spent the whole day out and then would come back, shower, and go to sleep so we didn’t actually enjoy what the camping had to offer) so it was slightly uncomfortable, but great nonetheless. We woke up Sunday morning to no water at all in the campsite and very disgusting bathrooms, but other than that, I enjoyed it. I would go back, but with more food and drinks, some friends, and flipflops for those nasty showers.
Now about Menorca, wow – just wow. Menorca is completely wild, beautiful, prestine, and absolutely worth a visit if you like crystal clear water, hiking, and untouched beaches.

Look at the color of the sand in that last beach! It was a reddish brown and glowed as the sun went down.

People said it’s very expensive, but we didn’t find it to be over-the-top pricey. We rented an electric car and zipped our way around the island from beach to beach. It was our first time tryin an electric car….It was fine, but I wasn’t a huge fan of that excitement of wondering if you may run out of battery somewhere along this nearly empty island.
I booked us a 2 hour kayaing excursion, which took us to completely natural islands. And we were pretty good at kayaking – the thing moved forward when it needed to move forward and turned when it needed to turn.

We saw a beautiful sunset in the north and then had dinner at a great little restaurant overlooking that same sunset. For two people who made absolutely no reservations, we lucked out with some pretty great food and snagged awesome tables. I guess we went early enough in the season.

We ate a LOT of cheese (that above is oven-baked camembert) and potatoes of all sorts. You know, beach diet. We looked up the price of those houses in the above picture and they aren’t THAT expensive when compared to a small place in the center of Madrid.

On the work front, things are slowing down quite a bit (as per usual in summer). We have done a bunch of caterings, but the day-to-day is a lot more chill.

We have a couple of pretty cool collaborations coming up – big brands that we use and love so hopefully they work out. Will keep you posted!!
What else, what else? We went to our close friend’s wedding last weekend and it was beauuuutiful. The pre-wedding party was held in Mazál the day before 🙂 100 people stuffed into our little restaurant! It was easily the most beautiful setting we have seen for a wedding and the food was insane. The caterer is a company that owns one of most expensive and exclusive restaurants in Madrid, so I told Luis we should eat up since we will never eat at the super $$$ restaurant in Madrid. I wish I had some photos of the food – it was exquisite. I tried everything, but it was so dang hot that I had to stop after awhile. Just too uncomfortable to stuff myself silly.

I went with my closest friends to get our hair did the day before.

That’s it! Off to go watch some netflix in the middle of the day, don’t tell anyone.
Have a good weekend!
