Hello, hello! Sorry for disappearing on you like that for the last couple of days. My weekend was very low key (literally VipKid, the gym, long walks, and my bed, so yes, I am retired), so I felt that there was nothing to write about. On Tuesday, I was actually in New York, working on getting another student visa to go back to Spain. I actually wrote a post on that process, which will go up later this week (hold on tight! this blog is taking you for a wild ride!!!). At this point, I am just waiting and praying and hoping that it comes before my scheduled flight. So I went to New York to drop off the application papers (yes, they make you drop them off and no, it is not a convenient process), but then I got to spend the entire day with one of my best friends who I haven’t seen in an entire year (the downside to traveling- people are all over the place), but it was SO great to spend the day together, talk about anything and everything, and soak up the energy of New York. Unfortunately, it rained the entire day in New York, and at certain points, it even poured. Luckily, when you are with good company, a rainy day in New York really isn’t so bad.
As a matter of fact, it was great- one of the best days I have had in awhile! So, what did we do?
Well, I started the day by driving to New Jersey, parking the car, catching the NJ Transit train from Hamilton to New York Penn Station.
The ride was nice, especially with my black coffee from Dunkin’.
Once I arrived, I walked from Penn Station to my visa appointment and the CRAZIEST THING HAPPENED! I saw Trump!!! I was walking on the street and there were a bunch of police and barricades and then his motorcade came through! I’ve never really seen a ‘celebrity’ (but once I saw Michael Jackson in a mall in Florida!), so it was a cool experience. (And no, this is not a comment on my political beliefs. I am simply stating that I saw the President).
It was pouring rain the whole day, but there was a nice little break in the rain after my appointment, so I used the opportunity to walk to Times Square to snap some photos, and then went to Whole Foods to meet Kimber.
I totally ogled the hot foods bar before she came, and then we she arrived, we each made up a box.
I declared to her that, one day, I want to have enough money to eat on the Whole Foods hot bar every day without thinking that ‘oh my gosh this is going to be so expensive’…. !
At least the food was SO GOOD! And I want to say my favorite thing were the detox this salad, the clean out that salad, but really? I loved that mac and cheese… Truth.
After lunch, we decided to walk The High Line, which I haven’t done in years. The drizzling rain necessitated the comeback of the big yellow poncho.
It was beautiful, but also pouring rain! Luckily, having the best conversations made the rain less noticeable, but eventually we decided a warm coffee sounded good. We made our way to Bean&Bean coffee (which has a sign that is the same font as Starbucks and we almost confused it for Starbucks… good marketing?).
We ended up drinking coffee and chatting more for over 2 hours, and then walked to Times Square to try to take some pictures. It was hilarious because we both looked absolutely awful!
Frizzy hair, big umbrella, smeared makeup, and just frumpy, haha, but that’s ok! I was so happy to be there, spending the day with Kimber! When I finally caught the train around 9:00, my throat was dry from all of the talking we did! I didn’t get home until almost midnight, and to say I was exhausted would be an understatement, but I also couldn’t fall asleep because my mind was so energized from the day (and also I was worried about my visa…). What a good day it was! I am looking forward to going back to New York to pick up my visa, and (fingers crossed), it will be next week!
