Hi!
Happy Sunday 🙂 Hope Friday and Saturday treated you well! My weekend, so far, has been filled with a lot of family time and Russy time.
Yesterday morning, my dad and I went to the gym for an in n’ out workout. I ran 3.5 miles and did a leg workout and we were out of there in just under an hour. We didn’t have time to dilly-dally because we had Saturday Brunch planned for 10 am. I have seriously been looking forward to this brunch since last Sunday when I had waffles. Here’s to hoping this turns into a family tradition!
My dad and I prepared everything for a delicious brunch in 15 minutes-record time! We needed to work quickly because when anyone in my family gets hungry, we eat, and there is no talking them out of it. Luckily, everyone was able to wait and we had an incredible brunch! There was french toast, fruit salad, a cherry compote and coffee!
The rest of the day was spent lounging in front of the TV until I got restless and needed to go for a walk (like a dog, as Russ says). We took a three mile walk together and then headed to Trader Joe’s. I have recently turned Russ on to the magic of Trader Joe’s and he said it’s his new favorite store! I win.
When we got home, we were greeted by Russ’ mom, then his brother and my aunt and uncle. Everyone came over to celebrate my Dad’s birthday, which is coming up this Tuesday!
My mom made a Cuban feast- black beans and rice, fried plantains, brisket and a big salad. I LOVE when my mom makes Cuban food and really hope to learn the recipes one of these days. It’ll never be as good as hers, but I sure can try.
I was so stuffed after dinner, but there is always room for [birthday] flan!
This flan was incredible. I have always liked flan, but this one was especially great. Maybe it’s just that I haven’t had any in a while, or maybe it was just that good 😉
Russ and I spent the rest of the evening catching up on Wife Swap and munching on a peach. Russ is out getting is personal training certification (!!!) while I’m eating breakfast and planning to head home soon.
A great weekend so far…who knows what today will bring 😉
Happy [early] Birthday, Dad!
