The Weekend I Became Spanish

Hola amigos!

Guess who’s Spanish?!  ME!  See my last post 🙂

This weekend had it’s ups and downs, but let’s focus on the ups and keep things positive around here.  For one, I officially became a Spanish citizen, which is very exciting!  This is me, right after the ‘swearing’.

I think I look more Spanish there, don’t I?

After getting all dressed up for the ceremony (but I didn’t even have the chance to take off my coat!), I got re-dressed into workout gear to go to the gym, but first I made a LOT of challah to fuel my breakfasts for the next month or so.  I was impatient and didn’t want to bake the loaves seperately, so I did 3 at one time, which led to one LARGE challah that I then had to dissect.

After making the challah, I wasn’t feeling the gym so I went for a 30 minute run instead.  I may be Spanish now, but I still wear my shorts in 40 degree weather (and subsequently get some nasty looks).

I had class on Thursday, and then Sarah and I were lucky enough to go to Real Madrid basketball game (thanks to Luis’ bank having their company dinner and no one was able to go, so I took them hehehe)

I am n0o0o0o0o0ot a sports person, but when the tickets are free and it’s Madrid vs. Bercelona, you don’t say no.  We had a lot of fun watching the game and soaking up the energy around us!  And also talking a lot 😉 Afterwards, we did like the Spaniards and got a few drinks.

Friday was a blur of not feeling well, and then Saturday was here and started with a partner gym workout after having this delicious challah french toast  It was Luis’ first time trying french toast!!  He approved.weekend a spoonful of TLC

We did NTC and as usual, I was really mean to Luis through the whole thing but he was a great sport.  (I was mean because he doesn’t like to workout as hard as I do and sometimes I turn into a drill sargeant).

In the afternoon, we had lunch with his family and then spent the rest of the day relaxing until Saturday night.  Luis went to dinner with some friends and I had dinner at home with Sarah.  She is honestly one of the best people I know- so caring and honest and supportive and all of our chatting led to a lot of drinking, which led to A LOT OF DANCING.weekend a spoonful of TLC

Which led to not waking up til 4 in the afternoon on Sunday.  I am a total morning person and feel overwhelmed and anxious when I don’t have time to ‘do things’, but Saturday was so worth it.  On Sunday, I only had enough time to go for a 30 minute run (with Luis) and then quickly assemble this babka and then do a tour.  The tour was fine, but I am really not a fan of Sunday night tours.  It just shadows my whole weekend, ya know?weekend a spoonful of TLC

A note on babka- if you have one that you buy that you LOVE, stick with that because THIS THING IS SO MUCH WORK!

Til next time!

XOXO
