El Perro y La Galleta is part of a group of restaurants in Madrid including La Galleta (I went years ago), Maria y La Galleta, Casa Galleta, and more. They really like galletas, huh! The best thing about El Perro y La Galleta are the beautiful, big glass windows that make the restaurant bright with sunshine. On the weekend, you DEFINITELY need a reservation to get a table, and during the week, it certainly doesn’t hurt. We went for lunch on a Tuesday and needed a reservation! The price is mid-range, but they have ‘tapas’ plates that you can share, which will bring down the cost of the meal. They do not offer menu del dia.
Go here for: a nice lunch in Salamanca, a trendy-ish dinner (like Larrumba restaurants) with friends, take your parents here.
El Perro y La Galleta
- Address: Calle de Claudio Coello, 1, 28009 Madrid
- Atmosphere: Really nice! Warm lighting at nice, bright and sunny during the day, not fancy, but not super casual. A nice place for a work lunch or fun dinner with friends.
- Type of Food: Modern Spanish. Lots of fish, meat, and vegetable dishes. Lots of plates to share. We shared all entrantes. HERE is the menu.
- What I ordered: Fried eggplant, croquetas with goat cheese, nuts, dried fruit, and a peach sauce, milhojas of potato with fried egg, and jamon on the side, stuffed mushrooms, and artichokes with romesco sauce. We ordered the tapa portion of the first three, and the regular portion of the other 2, but the tapa portion of the mushrooms would have also been fine, since we couldn’t finish them.
- My date: Perfect.
- Recommendation: Make a reservation well in advance! You won´t get a table without it. And if you want to be near the window, request it at the time of the reservation.
Rating: 9/10 for food and 9.5/10 for atmosphere (it was a little warm, but they turned off the heat when we asked)
