Roll

Roll Madrid review

  • Address: Calle de Amaniel, 23, 28015 Madrid (near metro Plaza de España and Noviciado)
  • Atmosphere:  The restaurant is decently sized.  It is quite long, and has tables that go pretty far back.  The restuarant is very casual, with wood tables and mis-matched wooden chairs.  I didn’t love the decoration, but it was ok.  If you sit near the front, there is a lot more light.
  • Type of food:  American brunch style.  The specific brunch menu has lots of egg dishes, a vegan skillet, a burrito, eggs benedict, chicken and waffles, etc.  Their normal menu has burgers, salads, burritos, and sandwiches.  They also offer things like yogurt with granola, pancakes, etc.  See the menu HERE.
  • What I had:  Luis and I shared the pastrami eggs Benedict (which was served on a waffle….it didn’t state that on the menu, so I thought it was very strange) and the Black and Blue burger, which was a burger topped with blue cheese, and came with a side salad.  We both enjoyed our meals, but felt they were a bit small for the price (11€ and 13€, respectively).  I thought the waffles was a very strange vehicle for the eggs Benedict, and was hoping to try their bagel.  Roll should consider ordering fresh bagels from Bruja’s Bakery 😉
  • Other observations:  they have a lot of people working there, so the wait time was not long at all.  With that being said, we went the weekend before Christmas and theplace was half empty, but I know that you usually need a reservation, which you can do by calling or online (call this number 918 05 79 30)

Rating: 7/10 for food, 8/10 for atmosphere (because it’s dark).  I would go back, but it is not quite my favorite brunch spot in Madrid.
