The Toast is a Madrid brunch spot that has been on my ‘to try’ list for months now. It’s one of the typical American-style places that offer lots of egg dishes, pancakes, and of course, toast. I have heard it’s super cute and news flash! It is! I went with my friend Sarah and we loved the decor and the food! Two thumbs up from both of us.
- Address: Calle de Fernando el Católico, 50, 28015 Madrid
- Atmosphere: Cozy! It’s like a cute little brunch spot, with intimate tables, but you’re not too jammed in there. There is a coffee area when you first walk in, and then tables in the back and lots of book shelves, warm lighting, and mirrors.
- Type of Food: Brunch/ American style. They offer egg dishes, burritos, toasts, pancakes, and for other times of day, they have sandwiches, burgers, wraps, chicken, and mac and cheese.
- What I ordered: Sarah and I both had Eggs Benedict. She had hers with avocado and I had mine with salmon. Sarah also ordered a pancake, which we shared. She had a tea and I had a cortado. We paid 27€ for the meal.
- Recommendation: If you plan to go on the weekend, make a reservation! We made the reservation days in advance and we were still told we only had an hour to eat. Luckily, they let us stay for 2 hours. Also, in terms of food, the burritos look good.
Rating: 8/10 for food (I thought the sauce on the Eggs Benedict had no flavor) and 10/10 for atmosphere (very cute) and 7/10 for prices because it seemed high for the portion sizes. Would I go back? Yes, probably.
