Day four, day four!
Each day only got better and better and not one time in Paris did I think “ok, I’m ready to go home”. Sometimes, on trips, it’s easy to think “hmmm ready to get back into my routine”. But walking around, stopping for coffees and snacks, and seeing the sites was a routine I was happy with. Haha 🙂
The fourth day started like all of the other days. With food.
Every little pastry shop had an assortment of beautiful pastries at a fraction of the price that you would find them in the United States. Little custard pies with berries were less than 2 Euro. Macarons (which I am now in love with…) were less than a Euro. And these huge sandwiches (or bocadillos, in Spain) on fresh French bread were relatively inexpensive. And the quiche! I have only ever had the quiche that my mom makes, and while it’s absolutely delicious, these quiches Paris were light and fluffy and flaky and different than mom’s (sorry mom 😉 )
The fourth day was a day with predicted storms and the ominous clouds told us that something bad was brewing.
Where the dark meets the light.
Eventually, the winds picked up and it started to HAIL. And rain. So we tucked ourselves into a little cafe and let it pass while we ate (more). Crepes and coffee.
And eventually, the journey continued pass the Notre Dame
To the Jardin du Luxembourg
Unfortunately, the gates were locked so I got a peek from the outside. The grounds were massive and beautifully manicured (from what I could tell). Check out those trees! I’ve never seen trees cut like that.
Due to the holiday Monday, this was also closed. We wouldn’t have had much time to see it anyway, but it is something to see in the future.
And finally, the Eiffel Tower. Again.
The last day in Paris was spent packing up suitcases, finding some food (falafel…) and heading home.
I left Paris in awe of everything I had seen and completely enamored with a new city. I don’t know why some people say Paris is nothing special because I found it to be absolutely incredible. I hope to be able to go back one day when the weather is a little warmer and see all of the places I didn’t see and try 1000 more pastries and eat 1000 more baguettes with cheese. Forever fat haha.
