Date Weekend (x3)

Some call me the queen of enjoying countless hours doing absolutely nothing, and I wouldn’t go so far as to disagree with that title (I DID spend the equivalent of 2.5 days in bed watching Gilmore Girls over winter break and the other night I had a dream with Luke a Lorrelai, so…), but this weekend I ventured outside and it was just as much fun as living vicariously through Rory Gilmore.  Did you know there are tons of people that go out to do things on the weekend?!  Crazy stuff.

Friday

After a couple hours of pretending to do some homework in the library, Russ met me at school and we went on a date!  We had a gift card to use at Pietro’s Coal Oven Pizzeria, and it turned out to be a fun little date.  We met up super early (4:40 pm) and even for and elderly person like myself, that was too early for dinner.  We meandered through stores, tried sample of perfume and lotion, and bought nothing.photo 1(6)1**YOU can find that gem at an Urban Outfitters near you!!! Get it for just over $200!**

Then we went to dinner at a respectable hour (5:30 pm).  I never said respectable for people in their early twenties…Pietros

We shared the Insalata Florentine with fresh spinach, pine nuts, raisins, croutons, Gorgonzola cheese, and a honey vinaigrette.photo 2(7)1 We both really enjoyed the salad, and as a non-Gorgonzola fan, I thought it was mild and tasty.

We also shared a medium white crust pizza topped with roasted eggplant.photo 3(7)1 After filling up on warm bread and salad, I wasn’t starving but did my due diligence and had two slices, while Russ ate all but two slices.  He’s on a diet, so he saved the last two slices to add to his hips later that night.  Admirable.

Saturday

Finally, finally, finally we are reinstating weekend brunch!DSC_0401 I was up by 8:00 am and by 8:03 am, I was annoyingly waking my dad up to come help me make brunch.  Who wouldn’t want to be woken up early Saturday morning with a dog jumping on you…?brunch 3

“Who, me?”

While I prepped food and ingredients, Dad ran to the supermarket for a challah.  Can’t have proper french toast without Challah, trust me.

On the Brunch Menu:

~Challah french toast, half soaked in egg nog and half soaked in milk

~Fruit salad with strawberries, blueberries, banana, apple, orangebrunch 4

~Simple scrambled eggs

~Fresh bakery butter cake

~Coffee, tea, espressobrunch 6

Everything was so, so good and I took a long nap afterwards to help with digestion.  Then..MCAT prep course all afternoon.  It’s as much not fun as it sounds.

After class, Russ and I once again had plans to meet in the city for dinner and a show.  Except that would have worked if the show had been on Saturday.  It was actually on Sunday.  You can feel free to look in Russ’ direction.

We still had dinner, or apps, that were filling enough and had enough calories for 2 dinners. We shared a big plate of wings (these wings were HUGE!!!).photo 4(6) I don’t care to know what they inject in those chickens.  And we shared Spanish Curly Fries, which I gobbled up.

Sunday

Again, up bright and early to have breakfast, head to the gym, and then get some homework done before another 4 hour hour MCAT class.  Feel my pain.  Share my pain.

Show Time Take TWO.  Russ packed us an exquisite dinner to be shared in the theater.  Think Chicken Lo Mein in a plastic bag.  #Romantic. theterI met Russ after class at the Walnut Street Theater to see the comedy, Private Lives.  We liked it, but we didn’t love it, so we ended up leaving at half time.  The thought was nice and we had fun, but I don’t know that I would recommend the show to you and yours.

Sunday night–Undercover Boss with Rass.  Nothing better.

Here’s to a great week!
