Friday Favorites: Skincare and Beauty

Haaaaappppppyyy Friday, ya’ll!IMG_5790

This week has been a good one for me, spent lots of time with my parents (I’m like a 5 year old) and saw friends from high school!IMG_5672 - Copy

Collin and Maeghan have been my two best friends from Cheltenham for the last 11 years and, well, we still can’t take a nice picture.CollinandMaePicMonkey Collage

Some things will probably never change.  Besides our inability to all look good, we laughed more than I have in so long.  There is something about recounting high school memories that is just so funny… like curled over and can’t breath funny.

Other than that, my parents and I spent one morning + afternoon in the city taking a tour of the new Mormon temple that was built in Philadelphia.  Tours are free and open to the public until  mid-September, so you should do it if you’re into that kind of thing!  Definitely worth it.  After, go have brunch at Green Eggs cafe 😉GreenEggsPicMonkey Collage

I really wish I could swim in a pool of those cheesy grits.

And lastly, at home, I have been on a rampage to clean and organize everything that shouldn’t be here.  “What did you do on your summer vacation?”  “Cleaned.  Everything.”  I have also been spending lots of time with mama in the kitchen.  And Teddy too.HomePicMonkey Collage

Soooo besides sharing all of that, I wanted to share my current favorite skincare + beauty products!  These days, I’m all into being proactive about never having wrinkles (EVER) so I’ve been buying + trying various products to help keep this beautiful skin nice and young (ish).

Here is my current fleet:BeautyPicMonkey Collage

1 // Great Lakes Gelatin Collagen Hydrolysate Beef, Kosher, 16 oz.

Collagen and collagen powders have been buzzing around the intra-webs for the last few weeks with everyone and their mother praising it and it’s benefits for joints, tendons, hair, skin, nails, (anti) cellulite, and more.  It has only 43 calories per serving and 11 grams of protein and can be easily dissolved in hot or cold liquids.

I put two tablespoons in my morning cup of coffee and it does dissolve quickly, but with iced coffee, sometimes it gets gloopy so I heat the coffee a teeny tiny bit and it takes care of that problem.  It apparently has no taste, but I can taste it.  it’s not bad, but it’s noticeable.

So have a seen any benefits yet?  Well, I have been consistently taking it for about 3.5 weeks and can’t say I have seen anything yet, but I’m going to give it time and report back.

2 // Rosehip Oil for Face, Nails, Hair and Skin From Majestic Pure – 100% Pure, Organic Cold Pressed Premium Rose Hip Seed Oil, 4 oz

Rosehip oil is known for a myriad of benefits, from reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and stretch marks to improving skin tone, elasticity and and texture.

It comes in a relatively large bottle considering the fact that a few drops goes a long way, but I am loving this stuff.  I use it as make-up remover at night and then as a face and body moisturizer after my shower at night.  It’s an oil, so it feels slightly greasy, but not greasy in an olive oil or Vaseline sort of way.  It’s light and makes my skin feel awesome!  I also think my skin looks brighter since I’ve began using this.

3 // Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen, 1 Fl. Oz

I bought this because I am super concerned about preventing wrinkles, primarily those caused by sun exposure.  I walk A LOT, especially in Spain, so I was looking for an every day sunscreen that isn’t too greasy and had the added benefit of improving my skin.  This product fit the bill and the reviews on Amazon sold me.  It has SPF 30, feels light (it is slightly greasy, but I don’t mind), and protects my face and neck.

This stuff is not cheap (30 Euros in Spain and $20 in the US), but….it’s cheaper than a face lift.
