Wow, look at me with two posts in one day! Today has felt very long, like there are enough hours to do everything and then some. Maybe it’s because people are picking up their bagels later this afternoon, which left my morning wide open. Anyway, I had time to write a quick post this morning and right now, I feel like deleting all of the photos in my phone, so here are 5 quick things.
Friday Five: September 2019
1 // After being away for so long and eating out SO MUCH, I have very much been enjoying healthy food at home. I really have had no desire to go out and have been enjoying lots and lots of vegetables!
This summery salad had brown rice, wheatberries, peaches, nectarines, tomato, and basil.
2 // I also made a trip to our local “bulk bin” shop to pick up a bunch of things that had been running low. I am really trying to reduce the amount of plastic we use and a big way is buy utilizing the bulk bins in addition to shopping in local markets for fruits, veggies, meats and fish.
All of that wasn’t expensive, but those fancy pastas are PRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCEEYYY and it drives me crazy that the Aldi next door sells the same pastas for half the price (in plastic bags).
3 // I have been doing a ton of baking! Lots and lots and lots of bagels of course, but also beautiful challahs so that I can eat some yummy french toast this weekend with my fancy Canadian maple syrup.
4 // Luis and I had to go to a meeting on Wednesday afternoon and we ended up grabbing lunch afterwards at a local bar. The “plato del día” was arroz con ternera (rice with beef) and it was delicious. I was full for many hours.
5 // This is my first weekend in Madrid since JUNE and I am very happy to be here! We don’t have much planned since we were supposed to go horseback riding on Sunday, but it got rained out. Wherever you are, HAPPY WEEKEND!
