Here I am, sitting in my hotel in Madrid!! I just got here, I’m kind of exhausted and also kind of buzzed off of the sugary breakfast that the plane provides.
Speaking of the plane, it wasn’t bad. My middle seat was about as good as middle seats can get, and my neck pain is only lingering mildly haha. They fed us…cheesy pasta of some sort, a roll, cheese, crackers, a small salad, and a brownie. Nutrition!
I slept almost the entire time, except for watching OITNB for 20 or so minutes. For some reason, we didn’t have to go through customs at all. They just quickly stamped our passports and we were on our way! I bought cafe con leche con hielo and paid in this strange arcade money machine. Then we sat on the floor and compulsively tried to get wifi (weefee). We were successful.
First impressions of Madrid:
- it’s so clean! No trash anywhere. I looked here, there and everywhere for it, but nope.
- Everything is s-l-o-w-e-r. The lines, the people, the LINES. It will take some getting used to.
- There is only so much wifi. At least at the hotel. “Maximum # of devices are on the network”.
First impressions of CIEE:
- Friendly
- Organized
- Helpful!
That’s all for now. It’s almost 1 pm here and we have free time until 4 pm. I’m going to SHOWER, sleep, maybe explore and find an adapter, and then 4-8 we have orientation/ time to get a metro card, dinner at 8, and free time after 10.
This feels like RA orientation. Gives me hives.
