Peru: Day 3 & 4. Selfie City.

Hola!

So where did we leave off?  Right, I was about to go to my first Spanish class…

Spanish class went really well.  I have class 2 hours every day, but I only signed up for one week so I could test the waters.  So far, so good.  And I like it because it doesn´t feel like school.  It´s just 4 of us with a young teacher named Roberth and he kept asking us for real examples, like describe your ex best friend, or ex bf/gf.  And he makes fun of us, so that´s fun 🙂  We only practiced one form of the past tense yesterday, so I imagine we will do another form today.

Also, with a view like this, who can complain about Spanish class?!photo 4

I´m not sure if I will continue with Spanish class in the next few weeks because I don´t want to be broke when I go home (but the classes are super inexpensive at only $12 per day for 2 hours and it comes with a book).  Instead of formal classes, they offer a free program that matches us up with young Peruvians that want to learn English and we just talk.  I may try that.

So after Spanish, I just walked around and tried to get a little lost for about 3 hours.  I took a lot of pictures, ate a croissant and bought an ice cream (yeah, who am I?).  Get used to selfie-city around here, because that´s what you´ll be seeing!photo 1 (1)photo 2 (1)photo 4 (3)

I walked around until almost 4:00, until my feet were hurting and I was starving, so I took the bus home (uneventful), relaxed with another volunteer in the house-Amber-HI!- and then had dinner (tacos with beans, rice, cheese, tomatoes, and cabbage-ish lettuce, and a really tasty thick syrupy fruit something for dessert).  I was extremely tired, so Amber and I hung out in our room and had an early night.

But tonight, we go SALSA DANCING! And today I have my first day at the daycare center.  Wish me luck!  And for some random entertainment, here is part of today´s breakfast:photo 3 (2)Love that yogurt.

And finally, here are a few more pictures from the last few days that I meant to add yesterday:

And that´s all she wrote.  I´ll be back tomorrow or the next day with stories about the daycare, Spanish lessons, and of course- salsa dancing.  Remember, my Uncle Pepe says dancing with me is like dancing with a set of drawers, so this should be interesting!

Happy Tuesday!
