Good Morning (if you’re in the US) and Good Afternoon (if you’re in Madrid!),
I’m taking a little break from piso-hunting to chat about nothing really. I’m actually waiting for my roommate to leave so that I can make calls to different apartment owners. She speaks beautiful, fluent Spanish and I’m too self-conscious to make calls in front of her. My fear of speaking is so real, but I have to get over it because I need to p-r-a-c-t-i-c-e. Tomorrow. Haha.
Random things I have wondered while in Madrid:
- Is “to-go” coffee a thing here? You don’t see people walking around with coffee cups like you do in the US, but maybe that has to do with a slower-pace of life and sitting down and enjoying your coffee with a good conversation? I’ll find out and report back 😉
- Do people get their leftover food wrapped up “to-go”? I haven’t really had many full meals here, mostly just grazing tapas, but either way, I haven’t seen anyone ask for a doggy bag.
- Do they have a strong jay-walking law? It seems like people usually wait for the little green man and walk in the crosswalk, which is cool and all. But what will happen if I…don’t? I probably don’t want to find out.
Cutting this short, my roommate just left. Here I go- about to use the most butchered Spanish to get an apartment 😉
