Part I and Part II here, if you haven’t read yet.
On our final full day in Tenerife, we wanted to go visit some other towns and explore more of the island. We had plans to hit three towns in the north, but only made it to one. But primero, breakfast!
And then we got on the road and headed to San Cristobal de La Laguna, which is known as a cute town that will “remind you of Havana, Cuba”.
Not sure about that, since it really only reminded me of…Spain, but it was a cute little town nonetheless. We enjoyed walking down the streets, stopping for a fresh juice, and just strolling through to little streets with bright buildings.
It was surprisingly touristy for such a small town! And we found a big market. You know how much I love markets!
From there, we did a bit more wandering…
And then headed back to the car and got on the road with plans to get ourselves on the playa.
We made it to the beach for a few more hours of sun!!
We had some ice cream and then took showers and got dressed for our last dinner.
The last supper! We wanted fresh fish and after first checking out a way-too-expensive restaurant right on the water, we back-tracked and ended up at El Cine, which is a no frills fish and seafood place that also serves simple tomato and onion salads, papas con mojo (potatoes with mojo) and french fries.
It was delicious! Fresh, light, and exactly what we wanted.
We took a stroll after dinner and then headed home for an early night so that we could get up and enjoy a few hours on the beach before our 5:00 flight home.
I probably shouldn’t post this on the internet, but…I’m going to.
We had our last lunch at a touristy place along the water than was actually quite good.
And then we headed to the airport for our flights back to reality! What could have been a very rainy weekend turned out to be absolutely beautiful and so, so much fun. I feel lucky to have two friends like them here, when life can be lonely sometimes.
