The Rest of an Almost Perfect Madrid Weekend.

Good morning!  I woke up early (not early at all..8:15 am) on Tuesday to write this post, but I only have…8 minutes…to get it done so probably won’t happen.  But let’s try!IMG_2580-001Ever have a persimmon?  I had my first Friday night…damn thing only took 3 months to ripen, but it was really good.

So where did we leave off on….ah, right.  My perfect Friday.

After I posted that, I showered and went out for a bit for beer and insane number of free tapas.  It was fun 😉

Ok.  8 minutes later and I have gotten this far.  Faaaaail.  See ya later.

I’m back, 8 hours later.  I went to work for a whopping two hours and once I was there, one of my teachers told me that her students had an exam and I didn’t need to be there for another 1.5 hours.  I shouldn’t complain….but I need to.  I worked two hours when I should have only worked ONE.  Ok.  I feel better.IMG_2602

So anyway, I took the bus home, ate a nice lunch and then made apple sauce with mealy apples, baked butternut squash, and hard-boiled some chicken embryos.  It was a productive thirty minutes.  Now I am blogging from a cafe!IMG_2609I’m blogging from the cafe where Annie had her phone stolen awhile back.  I was feeling bold.

After we left off, like I said, I went out for drinks and huge tapas and it was fun, fun, fun.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning, (more like Saturday afternoon), I had my favorite breakfast:IMG_2574Carbs with butter and jelly and a loooooooooooottttttttttttttt of coffee.  And The Kite Runner.  Have you read it?!  I started it that morning and now (Tuesday) I am about half way through and it is so, so, so good.  I have started it many a time before, but this is the first time I have given it a real chance and now I can see why it’s a #1 seller.  Never could understand that before.

Shortly after breakfast, I got dressed and headed down the street to meet two girls from my Spanish class for lunch.  We tried out a hidden vegan restaurant near my house and yes, it was weird and hippie-ish but the food was inexpensive and the portions were generous.  I mean…IMG_2575They gave me the tiny plate for the huge sandwich and that huge plate in the back for a tiny wrap.  I tried seitan one time before and nearly spit it on the floor, so I gave it another go thinking vegans know how to make it not taste like melted condoms and chicken fat.  This place improved it, but I think seitan can officially be considered do, did, DONE.  I ate bits and pieces of this, mostly bread, half of which ended up dropped on the floor.  I’m so clumsy.

Then I went food shopping, yadda, yadda, yadda.  Then out for a run because I am OCD about getting my 10,000 steps a day.  I ended up doing around 4 miles and then another two miles to a sports store that isn’t so close, but a good running destination.  And I came home with new babies!!IMG_2579

Which I didn’t take off the entire night.  I ended up spending the night glued to the couch watching Law and Order until the wee hours of the morning on Saturday.IMG_2584

SUNDAY

Sunday I woke up late, had breakfast (oatmeal / apple sauce…meh) and eventually showered and met Annie and Kristen to go to a food festival.IMG_2587IMG_2586

There were lots of food trucks and other vendors.  I had coffee haha.IMG_2590This picture needed major editing.

After the food festival, I met another friend to discuss plans for an upcoming trip (that probably won’t happen, womp womp).  Either way, it was nice to catch up.  Then, out for a beer to finish off the weekend on a great note!!

This past weekend felt so incredibly long, but in the best way.  It was one of those weekends where you do so much that the days feel long and full.  I woke up Monday morning dead tired, but the weekend was so worth it.  Monday was a long day, with THREE whole hours of school (sarcasm) and three and a half hours of private lessons that weren’t miserable.  That brings us to here and now.  I’m going to blog for a bit more, read, drink tea, head home to eat a snack and go to my Spanish class.  No complaints here.

Happy Tuesday!
