In my last post, I shared everything that we ate while in London (which was A LOT), but besides eating, we did a bit more, like walk around Soho (I love Soho and want to live there), visit the British Museum, and think about eating. All of that to say that I want to share the photos from our trip of, you know…us, as well as some things besides food.
We had a very early morning flight, and after snoozing for a good 2.5 hours on the plane, we woke up and dug into tortilla bagel sandwiches. Not to toot my own horn, but these are the best bagels I have ever made!
After our first stop, Ottolenghi, where we had a delicious lunch, we headed to Piccadilly Circus. I love the energy there! Reminds me of a cleaner NYC.
From there, we walked on Carnaby Street. I love how clean everything felt! And the abundance of cool restaurants, bars, coffeeshops, and stores was almost overwhelming. It’s like hipster paradise. The lady in the photo below doesn’t know she is #blogfamous.
Thoroughly frozen, we headed to the British Museum where we spent a couple of hours browsing the exhibits.
We followed their ‘if you only have 1 hour’ guide, but stayed for about 2 hours. My favorite exhibits were the mummies and the money. It was so interesting to see how people were mummified! How did they pull the brain out of the nose?! I don’t know about yours, but my brain is so large, it wouldn’t fit through my nose (lol jk, my nose is large too and could accomodate my big brain). I also enjoyed learning about the history of money, as well as seeing old designs. After all of that brain strengthening, it was time to kill some brain cells with a couple of proper pints at a local pub (no shortage of those in London!)
We enjoyed our pints, but how the Brits drink multiples of these is a great mystery they should explore with an exhibit at the London Museum. That thing was filling! And I didn’t even finish mine. After dinner, we hit the hay and got ready for a full day of eating the next day. First, obligatory photos in the phone booth. Did you really go to London if you don’t take these photos?
We started with bagels from Beigel Bake and Beigel Shop were I did the proper tourist thing and took no less than a thousand photos of the bagels. I’m an embarrassing person.
And then we hopped on the Underground and headed for Big Ben and the London Eye.
Which were underwhelming, so we went back to what we know- food. Big Ben is actually under contruction, so you can’t even see it We headed straight to Camden Market and literally spent the entire day eating there. To be fair, we didn’t realize that a tour we had planned to take was only going to be in The Camden Market. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have spent so much time there.
We biked for about 25 minutes (as part of our tour, which was fun- and freezing).
And the rest morning, we only had time for a quick run across Tower Bridge and along the river, and then some brunch.
The end. Oh, and we missed our return flight, so THAT was bundles of fun.
