Wow, where to begin?! It feels like it has been for-ev-er since I have been on here to write a post. I’m still trying to figure out this whole self-hosting thing, and honestly, it’s kind of intimidating and frustrating, but I’ll figure it out in no time 🙂
So, what have I been doing in the time that I have been avoiding dealing with my site? Lets see…
Russ and I planned to spend the day at a water park last Wednesday, but with gloomy, cool weather, we postponed until Monday- fingers crossed! Instead, we spent the day looking at stuff to decorate bathrooms. I’m so indecisive that it took me FOREVER to decide between towels.. Russ gave me lots of opinions on which were softer or more stylish 😉 He was very helpful.
On Thursday, I woke up with plans to go to the gym, but realized that I still hadn’t done any long runs. If I didn’t do it then, I wouldn’t have had an opportunity until after school starts, which is no bueno. Let me just say that I really, REALLY didn’t want to do any long distance running, let alone 11 miles, but I managed to convince myself!
I eventually made it out the door, but by mile two, I was already playing the “just get to mile three” game and was soaked in sweat. It was humid and I was slow, but each mile slowly ticked by and I eventually managed to cover 12 miles! I was super proud of myself when I got done and immediately prepared a big smoothy when I got home. After the run, I was feeling quite achy in my knees, hips and back, but the pain passed after a few hours. The smoothie was a bit…chunky because the blender was spraying milk, so I quickly blended it and was pleasantly surprised to find big bits of kale and carrot. MMMMM…<—Sarcasm!
The other day, Russ said that after running 11 miles, the thought of running 26.2 sends chills up his spine. For me, the thought of running that far makes me feel queasy. This should be interesting to say the least! 13.1? No problem! It’ll be slow, but we can do it. 26.2 is a whole OTHER ball game. Oh man!
After work on Thursday night, I went into the city to get a drink with a friend that I haven’t seen in years! She just started at Jefferson Medical College so we had a ton to talk about. We ended up talking for a few hours and I was able to pick her brain about all things medical school. I learned a lot and it definitely gave me something to think about. But it was also really fun to catch up! I’m excited to have another friend in the city to go out with during the year! (if she isn’t too busy with, you know, medical school haha.)
Friday started at the gym for a quick workout before running to the co-op for ingredients to do some BAKING! I love baking and for the first time in a long time, I made things with butter, flour AND sugar :). I wasn’t in the mood to health-ify anything, so I found a couple recipes that looked awesome. I made M&M cookie bars and peach-pecan oat bars, both from the Fearless Homemaker. I made the desserts for a couple reasons- the first being that Toby wanted to thank all the nice people that helped him feel better this week, and for a staff party that we had last night. Both were a hit!
Saturday was another early one for a quick three mile run! I had to hurry because I had an early morning hair appointment before work. I get my hair relaxed once a year to help tame my crazy hair. I should just be happy with the curls, but I also love having flat roots. It was quite a bit more expensive than its ever been, so moving forward, it may be time to let my real hair shine!
*I’ll show an after picture tomorrow. I’m a mess from work, so I’ll spare the pictures.
The rest of Saturday was spent at the pool and then Sunday is Sunday brunch! Coming soon!
