Nike Training Club.

Heeey!

I have 30 minutes to shovel some food into my face before I need to go tutor, but I thought I would pop in and say hi and tell you about Nike Training Club.  It’s an app that is guaranteed to give you a quality workout, and you can do many of the workouts from home!  Before starting a workout, it will tell you what’s needed, like medicine balls, jump rope, or weights.  It’s great for snowy days, when going to the gym isn’t possible!photo(121)

I’ve tried Nike Training Club in the past, but yesterday I re-downloaded the app to give it another go.  I did the “Razor Sharp” workout, which had me doing a lot of plyometrics (jumps, squats, etc.), but also mixed in abs and dumbbell exercises.  It was fast-paced and was over in no time!

The app allows you to choose your fitness level, what kind of workout you’re looking to get (get leaned, get toned, get strong, get focused), and then allows you to choose how long you want the workout to be.  For yesterday’s workout, I did 8 minutes on the elliptical, then the 30 minute Razor Sharpy workout, then ten minutes of easy jogging + abs.  It was a good workout!

Nike Training Club is definitely going to be my go-to for at-home workouts or when I want to squeeze in a workout in the morning.  In the future, I probably won’t do it at the gym because I like to make use of the equipment there, although I may use it for my cardio.  I also like that you can share workouts with friends, save your workouts, and rate how you think it went.  You can even make a training plan!

The app allows you to listen to music while you workout, but will talk to you and tell you what exercise to do next.  It was also give you encouragement and tell you how much time is left (30 seconds, ten seconds, finish strong, etc.).  If you don’t know how to do a particular exercise, there are videos for everything and you just hit play, watch the quick video, and then resume the workout.  I think that’s a great feature, because I had never heard of most of what the workout had me doing.

My only complaint is that you have to stop, hit play, and then resume the workout if you want to watch the video.  I would much rather have a video playing in the bottom portion of the screen, because I like to keep my phone on the floor so I can see the time.  It’s not a huge deal to pick it up and watch the video, but if you have the phone in an armband, you will need to take it out to watch each video.  It’s not a huge deal, but definitely something I would change!

It’s definitely a worthwhile app for the days you can’t make it to the gym, or just don’t have the motivation to put yourself through a tough workout.  I left the gym niiiice and sweaty.  Try it out!

Enjoy the rest of your day!!
