Yo

Hello and Happy Sunday! It is almost 11am, Luis is still fast asleep, Pachi is next to him chewing on his bone, and I woke up at 9am since I fell asleep on the sofa around midnight. Work is sort of picking up again so this week may be busy (better busy than not), and I feel like posting. You’re welcome 🙂

Let’s back up to the beginning of January, or late December.

The end of December was full of holly jolly cheer! At least it felt holly and jolly with lots of time with friends, work was way less intense, and just general downtime.

On Christmas Eve, Luis and I were both at home by 4pm and sat on the sofa and watched tv with bowls of popcorn until almost 8pm and it was the best weekday of my life. The world was quiet, it was dark and cold outside, and we were doing absolutely nothing.

Pachi enjoyed the holiday season as well.

A few days ago Pachi (and I, but mostly Pachi) could have been in a bad freak accident. Nothing happened in the end (except a huge scare), but I haven’t stopped thinking about how something or someone was watching over us in that moment and protected Pachi (and my heart).

We love him.

Anyway, moving on. These last few weeks of “downtime” have given me more time to spend at the bakery and watch the bakers in action.

Look at these cinnamon rolls!

And this babka!

As we prepare to open TOVA, we are working on perfecting our recipes.

In other news, we went on a really fun ski weekend with friends. We left Pachi in a hotel for 3 nights and he had a great time. It was a hotel “and spa”. We don’t go to any spas, but our dog does 🙂 He seemed happy in the many videos they sent and came home completely exhausted. He slept for like 20 hours straight!

Skiing was fun, but I maintain my position that the mountain is beautiful, the sky is beautiful, the fresh air is beautiful, the post-ski drinks are beautiful, the fear of sliding down a mountain, or worse, is not beautiful.

Jess and I went to SKI SCHOOL and we were the best in the class

Which hyped up our egos, but then DID NOT prepare us to go down a blue run where we both ended up in tears. Funny now, not funny then. After much drama, expensive pizza, beautiful mountain views, and tears, we ended our day on a safe green run where we were all smiles.

I was happy when it was over. Skiing 2026, DONE! Also, the best moment of the entire day is taking off the skis and getting to put on sneakers. No better feeling.

After a day of skiing, the next day we did a fun “obstacle course” hike! I loved this way more than skiing. There were gentle obstacles, things to climb over and under, bridges to cross, and good food at the end of it.

Now it’s January, so here are January things:

Ate a delish sandwich at work:

It had cream cheese, lettuce, pickles, fried egg, and jalapeño.

We had our first large catering of the year (150 people):

On Friday we had our Annual Bakery Cleaning Day, where we clean the entire bakery, moving things, climbing high up, etc. It looks pretty good, I’d say!

And yesterday, Luis and I went to lunch at a new restaurant called The Diner. Short menu, tasty plates, pretty authentic.

Pachi enjoyed a decent amount of tuna.

That is all, thanks for reading! Today involves going to the gym (BodyPump) at 1pm, then seeing friends later at 4pm.
