Hi! I thought I would show you what my day looked like yesterday (Tuesday), which is quite standard on the auxiliar and teaching front.
7:55 // My alarm goes off, so I hop out of bed and snooze for another 9 minutes of sleep.
8:04 // I get up for real because I am supposed to meet Kimber at 8:30 for a workout. I quickly change, go to the bathroom, and eat some watermelon. Meeting a friend for a workout is so much easier than doing it alone!
8:30 // Out the door to run to Sol and meet Kimber in front of the Apple Store, which is where we meet every Tuesday morning. I run there to meet her and someone asks me if they can use my phone. I get an eery feeling that they are planning to steal it, so I said no and run away.
8:30-9:30 // We run 20 minutes and then do 17 minutes of NTC at my gym and then do a 15 minute group ab workout. Abs are burning but workout is DONE.
9:35 // Say bye to Kimber and head home for a shower and breakfast.
9:45 // In the shower.
9:55 -10:10 // Out of the shower, dressed, make-up done.
10:10-10:25 // Breakfast (lately it has been bran flakes with a sliced peach (LOOOOVE THEM) and an iced cappuccino. I also check e-mails and call my notary to encourage him to get working on some papers for my Spanish nationality.
10:25-10:30 // Wash dishes and brush teeth and grab bag. Head out the door.
10:30-11:34 // Take two metros and a 30 minute bus to get to school. I use this time to listen to music or play with my phone (I am trying to break this habit…)
11:35-11:40 // Say hi to the teachers and quickly drink another coffee with a cracker topped with PB that I keep stored in my locker at school. #American
11:42-12:30 // First class of the day with 3A- a very good class who never gives me problems! We play Trivial Pursuit because it’s the end of the year and the students don’t want to learn anything and I sure don’t want to teach anything. I also really enjoy this game because I like to see how much I know!! They play in teams and I read the questions.
12:30-12:33 // Go to the bathroom and eat another cracker. Why am I always hungry? Also, I fill my water bottle.
12:34-1:25 // Second class of the day! We play trivial pursuit again. Still fun. I stay in the class with the teacher in this class, so it’s usually more enjoyable…except when I just walk around and do nothing.
1:25-2:18 // Last class of the day! You guessed it, Trivial Pursuit again 🙂 These kids are bit holder and therefore more competitive. At 2:18, I RUN for the bus because it comes at like 2:19.
2:19-2:45 // Ride the bus to the train in Parla.
2:45-3:25 // Ride the train from Parla to Atocha. I started doing this recently on my way home and I realized it cuts 20 minutes out of my commute! On my train ride, I munch on some carrots like a weirdo.
3:25-3:55 // Walk home from Atocha. During this walk, I walk past lots of restaurants serving menu del dia and I longingly stare at everyone’s plates at the various restaurants. I use this time to mentally prepare my own lunch.
3:56 // Assemble lunch, which is almost always a big yummy salad with all the fixins.
3:58-4:15 // Eat lunch, usually while reading blogs.
4:15-5:05 // Rest time! Read blogs and scroll through my phone, write on the blog for a hot second, and then take a 25 minute nap.
5:05-5:15 // Put on shoes and eat a piece of homemade banana bread with melty peanut butter and an iced coffee.
5:15-6:00 // Take three metros and walk ten minutes (a one hour commute in total) to 3 hours of private lessons in a place called La Peseta. Tuesday’s are my longest day in terms of travel and number of lessons, but I also make the most money. Sooooo … 🙂
6:00-7:00 // First class with an adorable little girl! Since it is the last day of the year, we make pizza together! I have done a couple of cooking lessons with her this year and we both love it. This class is sometimes studying, but more like babysitting.
7:00-9:00 // Two hours with the boy that lives upstairs. Usually I have one hour with him and one hour with his mom, who is learning English, but she is exhausted so the boy and I do two hours. We also make pizza together and then he teaches me Chess and beats me twice 🙂
9:10 // Wait 5 minutes at the bus stop.
9:15-9:55 // Ride the bus home and listen to music. This bus is always extremely full and extremely loud, but I get on at the first stop, so I can get a seat.
9:55-10:15 // Walk home (I get off the bus early to do extra walking). On the way home, I stop at a fruit stand and buy cherries and a cucumber and I eat some cherries while walking.
10:16 // Dinner…I am starving. I ate a bowl of this with extra tomatoes and olive oil:
10:30 // Wash my dishes, make a cup of tea and get a piece of chocolate.
10:35-12:30 // Write blog posts, talk on the phone, take a shower.
