Bagels, Beer, Dancing, and More

Wow, what a weekend!  I know I am writing this on Tuesday, but I just couldn’t get it together yesterday to write so here I am, sharing a day late.  Anyway, hello friends!  How was your weekend?  It’s weirdly cold here in a Madrid (WHYYYYY!!!!), but I still had a super good weekend.  Lots of bagels, lots of beers, some dancing (not with the beers, oddly enough), and a lot of relaxation.

The weekend started Friday night with a little tortilla and beer at Casa Dani, one of the most famous places in Madrid for tortilla.  REALLY good, but also very greasy- you can’t really go wrong with a lot of oil.

After that, we used the Madrid Bici bikes to head back to Luis’ and then headed right back out the door for a couple more beers at a local bar.  Love a bar that gives a REAL tapa #amirightWeekend

We had been planning to have dinner, so once our beers were gone, we went on the hunt for some food and ended up at La Cazorla with all of the other people over 70 years old…haha…We shared this HUGE salad (which was only 7€!).  I had it about a year ago and haven’t stopped talking about it since then.La Cazorla ensalada

Saturday began with a yummy breakfast- my current go-to of two pieces of toast and Smucker’s peanut butter and honey.  My mom bought be two jars of the good PB and I am almost finished the first (in just over a week).  Mom, you’ll need to bring more.Weekend

As soon as breakfast finished, I had to run out the door because I had TWO food tours on Saturday, first with a (hungover) family from 12-3 and then 2 couples from 7-10.  Luckily, both groups were awesome and the time went by so fast.  Giving tours in Madrid is always a lot of fun and I feel so lucky to have such a cool job!  I was finished the first tour by 3:15, so I walked around for awhile, admiring the livelihood of Madrid on a Saturday.Weekend

Lol, not a good representation of the livelihood, but there was a lot happening!

And then I went home and painted for about an hour while watching tv.  It was rainy and kind of cold, so this was the perfect Saturday activity.Weekend

Like I said, I had another tour on Saturday which was really fun.  The group bought me a couple rounds of drinks, so there was no shortage of fun conversations 🙂

On Sunday, I was up nice and early again because my friend, Leanna, and I made plans to go to a big yoga event being hosted by Oysho on the Paseo del Prado.  Unfortunately I registered too late, so while she did yoga, I creepily followed along off on the side of the road like the big weirdo that I am.Weekend

After a few minutes, I gave in and did a Nike Training Club workout while watching everyone else do yoga.  It was a pretty cool event, with probably 600 girls doing yoga together.  Leanna said that at one point, evenyone did a stretch that had you sit back and lean into your neighbor, which made it so that everyone was supporting each other.  *Cue chills*.   When we both finished our respective workouts, we walked along Paseo del Prado where they had a transportation exhibit.  Pretty cool to see some of the old buses!Weekend Weekend

Eventually, we met up with another roomie, Ariel, for some brunch right in Lavapies.

Weekend

After brunch, I walked into the center and while waiting for Luis to join me, I stopped and saved a few lives… haha

Weekend

Sorry if that picture makes you squimish!  Luis and I spent the rest of the afternoon watching a bunch of dance performances near Callao…Weekend

Then I made us some bagels…Bruja's Bakery bagels

And then we planned a bunch of our upcoming summer trips.  Lots of fun things happening on the horizon!  I can’t wait to share!

XOXO
