Best Birthday Weekend.

My-oh-my, I don’t even know where to begin.  This weekend was great!  Completely jam-packed with fun things to do and see, and I really loved every minute of it.  It truly was the best way to end the summer and get ready for school on Tuesday. (eeeeeek…)

Thursday was my real birthDAY, so we celebrated with sushi (made by Russ and me) and then flour-less chocolate cake from Whole Foods.  Stuffed to the brim, I was.DSC_0002DSC_0011

Friday was supposed to be a beach day, but since the weather looked cloudy, the executive decision was made not to go.  Instead, I headed to the gym and then spent the day at the local co-op with a coffee and my computer and tried to get some work done.  It was moderately productive.  Then I went home and napped because I was exhausted from all that brain power I used!  Friday night we did what we do best-Shark Tank and ice cream.

Saturday

Saturday was a long and REALLY fun day!  After 4 grueling hours of work, I quickly showered and then my family and I headed to the Odessa Brewfest. (This is a HUGE shout out and THANK YOU to Jen, (our…cousin?) for hooking us up with tickets.  We had so much fun!)DSC_0057 DSC_0037

It was a hot and steamy day, but there were so many new brews, which allowed us to try new beers and see what we like (and don’t like).DSC_0040photo-35

I apparently like beer that tastes…not like beer.  So not hoppy, watered down and sweet is ideal.DSC_0061

After driving the crew home (I sipped each of my beers then handed them off to Russ), we had about 10 minutes to change for a night out!  Dinner reservations at Max Brenner-Chocolate by the Bald Man were at 8 pm.  We were a teeny tiny bit late (more like 30 mins…), but I don’t think anyone was tooooo mad?  And I was so happy that my closest friends were able to come with us!DSC_0079 DSC_0074

Russ and I shared mac and cheese, which was really creamy and delicious, and then we shared a Smores dessert, which was HUGE and perfect.DSC_0068DSC_0093

It had marshmallow, chocolate ice cream, melted white chocolate, graham crackers, and whipped cream.  I was beyond stuffed, but in a good way.

After saying goodbye to Maeghan, Kevin, and Brandyn (they all had to either catch a train back, or be up early), Russ and I went to Ancy’s apartment where there were drinks, friends, and cupcakes.  A huge thank you to Ancy and Chris and Russ for organizing all of that!  I think this picture just about shows it all…DSC_0123

The only picture we got together, just the two of us:DSC_0114

And with Ancy Pantsy: (I ended up changing into shorts after dinner.)DSC_0137

Shortly after arriving, we were back out the door to walk to Cuba Libre, but not before we attempted the signature group shot…DSC_0126

Almost there….And much better!DSC_0128

Cuba Libre was jam-packed with people, but fun nonetheless!  By 1:40 am, we were all more than ready to head home.

Sunday

Sunday morning, we were up bright and early-ish for brunch at the South Street Diner.  It just happened to also be the day of the Green Fest on South Street, which was really fun!DSC_0143 DSC_0147 DSC_0152 DSC_0162 DSC_0165DSC_0168 DSC_0163 And we were all loving the giveaways!  Free food, iced coffee, reusuable bags!  It was great.

Eventually, we made it to brunch where neither Russ nor I knew what to order, so we shared something that my dad would order-Cream Chipped Beef.  It was just okay and neither of us were starving, so we left most of it on the plate.

While Russ went to his grandmom’s, I had grand plans to go to the supermarket for snacks for lunches, but my bed was calling my name loud and clear.  There is nothing like a Sunday afternoon nap, with the fall breeze coming through the open windows.  Okay, so there is nothing like a nap on just about any day of the week.

It truly was an incredible weekend.  I am very, very, very lucky to have Russ, my family, and good friends by my side, helping me celebrate.

Thank you, to all of you, and I love you long time.DSC_0048

It’s going to be a great year, I can already tell.
