Friday Favorites A Spoonful of TLC

Hello friends and happy FRIYAY!! There have been quite a few things I’ve been really loving lately that I wanted to share with the etherwebs.  I would love to be one of those bloggers that can do this each week, but I either don’t consume enough fun stuff OR my life is just too monotonous, but since it’s been months? (possibly years) since I’ve done a Friday Favorites post, I thought I could finally show you a round up of things I’ve been loving.  As soon as this gets published, I will be signing off to start the weekend!  There is nothing too grand on the agenda, just hanging out with Luis, and possibly catching up with some friends!  No matter what I do, I know it will be a good weekend!  I’m sure I’ll interspres some workouts and time to paint, and I also want to go on a picnic, but I’ll keep you in suspense on JUST WHICH grandma plans this weekend will feature.  Happy weekend, dear readers!

Things I am loving, in no particular order.

Doctor Foster on Netflix

Friday Favorite A Spoonful of TLC

Oh my gosh, Luis and I have never ever had a show that we are so into.  I could never get into the fan favorites, like Stranger Things and other shows that are always popular, but this show has me so sucked in.  Here’s the plot, via Wikipedia:

Doctor Foster is a BBC One drama television series that was first broadcast on 9 September 2015. The five-part series, written by Mike Bartlett, is about Dr Gemma Foster, who suspects that her husband is having an affair. After she follows several lines of enquiry, far more in her life unravels, including a streak of violence below the surface.  The storyline was inspired by the ancient myth of Medea, a wronged wife who poisons her husband’s new bride and kills their children.  The second series started on 5 September 2017 and concluded on 3 October 2017.

The seasons are short, just 5 episodes each, so it’s easy to get through (but each episode is an hour, so there is a lot of juiciness).  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

PaintingFriday Favorite A Spoonful of TLC

As I stated above, I’ve been so into painting recently.  It all started in Israel when Luis and I did a painting class together and now I’ve been totally loving it as a downtime hobby.  I bought a few canvases and a few tubes of the primary colors and set up shop.  So far I’ve painted a big fish and I am working on a mandala-style sun.  Painting allows me to be creative, relax, and have fun.  And I will be SO prepared for any future retirement community interviews that come my way: “and what are your hobbies, Ms. Cohen…?”

Lazy-Girl Tzatziki Sauce

Luis and I have been eating a ton of salmon since it´s actually so easy to make and to go with it, I have been making, what I like to call, Lazy-Girl Tzatziki with is just:

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber chopped small
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp dry dill
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp dry garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Mix it all up!  That´s it.

TextNow App

Friday Favorite A Spoonful of TLC

A couple of years ago, I wrote about my favorite apps for living abroad.  At the time, my go-to app for making calls to the US (with data or wifi) was an app called MagicApp or MagicJack, but a couple of months ago, it stopped working and I haven´t been able to redownload it.  It really limited my ability to call home until my mom told me about TextNow, which is essentially the same as MagicApp- an app that allows you to make calls and send texts over wifi/data and they even give you a phone number to use.  I tried it out the other day and it´s been great!  Highly recommended.

Cooking with my MomFriday Favorite A Spoonful of TLC

My mom knows that she can´t come visit me and get away without cooking something, so during her trip this week, we set aside an entire afternoon to cook together (and by together, I mean SHE cooked and I watched/drank beer).  We (she) made arroz con pollo (chicken and rice) and picadillo (ground beef in a tomato sauce).  Love it and love her!

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!! xx
