Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid

Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid
Hello friends!  Happy Tuesday to you! I hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend with family and friends, and I hope you were able to eat copious amounts of hamburgers, hotdogs and grilled corn.  I, on the other hand, didn’t really do anything to celebrate Memorial Day in Madrid… except host a Memorial Day weekend Bagel sale over on Bruja’s Bakery.Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid

The sale went surprisingly well, which was good.  I actually have orders for every day this week! Despite not going to BBQs, picnics, pool parties, or the beach (and I’m not bitter…), I still had a really nice weekend!

The weekend started on Friday, so first things I did Friday morning was drop my Mama off at the airport.Mom in Madrid

It was so ncoe having her here with me! There is truly no one like your mom! I’m so happy she was able to come for over a week and that we did so many fun things together.

After I dropped her at the airport, I headed straight to the gym for 30 minutes of sprints on the treadmill.Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid
I haven’t done a cardio workout like that in months so my abs and back muscles are still reminding me of what I did.

After stretching for a bit, I headed home and worked on VIPKID all day and then Luis and I went to return something and then ended up buying more stuff.. how does that happen?!

Saturday started with a good workout at one of the classes at the gym.  For a little breakfast, I had toast with almond butter and a sliced strawberry and a half cup of strawberry smoothie that I downed while the bread toasted because I am a savage and ca’t wait.Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid
I was actually incredibly sore to begin with, so I’m not sure if it was a difficult workout but it felt hard to me!  It was a mix between BodyPump (using the barbell) and a circuit class that has you doing x number of reps in x amount of time.

Saturday afternoon I had VIPKID and then spent almost 3 hours going through all of the stuff I have accumulated over 3 years and decided what to keep, donate, and trash.Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid
There is no better way to realize how much STUFF you have until you decide to go through it and pack it up.  Oh my gosh I have so much stuff and I want to get rid of it ALL.Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid
If I could live in a 90% empty house, I think I would.

Saturday night we watched Real Madrid beat … which was exciting! I’m not a sports person, but any means but it’s exciting when everyone else is into it.  Luis and I ate leftovers and made some mojitos…with dark rum and tonic.  Next time we will do better 😉Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid

On Sunday, Luis and I rode the Madrid City bikes into the center of Madrid and then headed over to J & J Books and coffee to try my bagel competition!

We ordered their Jalepeño Cheddar and the Sundried Tomato Bagels and took a bunch of photos before digging in.Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid

And a photo of my handsome date, too.

Verdict on the bagels:  they were good!  We both thought the texture and flavor was good, but would like to try some more neutral bagels since just about anything is good with a layer of cheese on top 🙂

After that, we walked around town for a bit, rode back to the apartment, and then I made more bagels!Memorial Day Weekend in Madrid
It was a bagel Sunday, I guess.

Sunday night, we watched the most amazing fireworks show coming from the stadium.  I had complete body chills watching this!  I’m sure the view from inside was great, but this one wasn’t half bad.

That’s all I have for you!  I actually have to quickly post this and run because I am off to get my hair done!  POR FIN!  Time to get rid of all those bushy budding curls!

Have a good week! -From TeddyMemorial Day Weekend in Madrid
