Restaurants in Madrid: NAP Madrid (Pizza) (10/10)

NAP Pizza Madrid

I have a love/ hate relationship with pizza.  I LOVE good pizza- thin crust, fresh cheese, smooth sauce (and not too sweet), and good price.  So where is the hate part?  Before last weekend, I had yet to try good pizza in Madrid.  The pizza usually has thick crust, strange toppings (tuna? corn? Why, Madrid, WHY?), or is just bad.  UNTIL last weekend!  We have found good pizza in Madrid!  We tried NAP Madrid, which is located right in the heart of Lavapies.  On Saturday nights, there is a line out the door, but we easily snagged a spot at the bar on Friday afternoon and watched as our pizza was made from start to finish.  It was thin, crispy (made in a wood-burning oven!), has the perfect amount of toppings, and the prices are unbeatable!  7 Euros for a Margarita pizza and up to 10 Euros for all of the fancier ones.  NAP Pizza Madrid

NAP Madrid

  • Address: Calle del Ave María, 19, 28012 Madrid
  • Phone number: 911 25 07 42
  • Atmosphere:  Bright, casual, energetic, small space
  • Type of food:  Italian thin-crust pizza, some salads, desserts
  • What you should order:  I imagine all of the pizzas are great, but we had the Speck pizza, which had mushroom, arugula, truffle cream, and ‘speck’, which we learned was pork.  Next time I want to try their other flavors, but I think I’ll end up getting the Speck sans speck.
  • Other comments:  The place is quite small, so if you plan to head there on a Saturday night, pop in and put your name on the wait list then go have a drink in Lavapies.  They will call you when the table is ready!  Or, consider sitting at the bar where you can watch the pizzas being made!

Rating: 10/10 for food, 10/10 for atmosphere.  I love that you can sit at the bar and watch everything being made, or you can get a table.  The crust was thin, the toppings were plentiful and the prices are unbeatable.  If you want good pizza in Madrid, this is your place.
