Saturday in the City

Saturday was a goooooorgeous day in Philadelphia, and we were lucky enough to spend it outside! photo 2 (11)Even better, we spent the day with our friends, Ancy and Chris, eating brunch and exploring Philadelphia.photo 1 (10)

It was a good day!  We took the subway into the city and then walked a few blocks to Ants Pants Cafe.  I’m a sucker for sitting outside on nice days, but there weren’t any tables available so we ate inside.  Luckily, we made up for that later…

Russ and I went sweet, sweet, sweet with their Honey Comb milkshake- some sort of butterscotch/ caramel/ chocolate concoction. photo 1 (11)

I had the brie-stuffed french toast with pear and Russ had their Boston Creme Pancakes.photo 2 (13) photo 3 (7) I liked my french toast, but would have liked more (a lot more) brie!  Na mean?  The other items were tasty.  Ancy and Chris both got egg dishes that looked amazing and the mmms going around the table indicated that they were good!photo 4 (4)

Stuffed, we left to walk around and explore.  The South Street Festival was actually taking place on Saturday, so we walked down there to check it out. photo 3 (6)

Lots of beer!  Except 3/4 of us were running the BSR so we opted out, but still fun to be there!photo 4 (3)  While Chris and Ancy visited with friends, Russ and I went to visit some furry friends and walked over to the SPCA.  I want to take them all home with me!

After a lot of walking, we made our way back to the subway to pick up our race packets and then headed back to my house.  It was a really fun day and I’m going to TRY to make a bigger effort to go exploring down there more often. photo 5 (6)

It’s only a hop, skip, and jump away, yet we hardly ever go to the city.  Heck, it’s not even that far- barely a hop and a skip.  We really don’t have an excuse…
