So we didn’t do the marathon.  We didn’t attempt to run any of it.

What is came down to was the there was no way my knee would take me 26.2 miles running or jogging.  I had no desire to WALK 26.2 miles.  So there- the marathon was out.  We considered the half marathon, but we both paid a lot of money for our entries and didn’t want to use it for a half marathon that, again, there was no guarantee that I could finish.  In the end, we decided to put an ad on Craigslist for both of our entries and see what happened.  Low and behold, people wanted to buy the entries- LOTS of people.  We had 15-20 people contact us.  We ended up selling both entries and I’m not going to lie- I was really bummed out about it all weekend.  I know there are other marathons (LOTS!) and I know that there will be another time for me to do a marathon with Russ and WE WILL.  Maybe not this year, and possibly not next year, but it will happen and we will RUN the entire thing and we will FINISH it.  This just wasn’t my marathon.

Russ and I still went to the expo with his roommate, Jesse, to pick up our packets.  They were excited to be there, but I didn’t really have much interest in being there because it was making me upset to see what I would have/ could have/ should have been doing.  It was hard to see it on the news/ Facebook/ Twitter because I had been looking forward to this for months, but there will be a next time so it’s okay I am so proud of all of the people that finished, regardless of their time or experience.

I’m sad that things didn’t go my way, but I’m glad it wasn’t a complete loss.  Russ and I both made our money back (for the most part), and Russ was more than willing to help me eat my feelings in food this weekend.  We had a pretty tasty weekendCheck it out:

After the expo, we headed over to The Reading Terminal Market for some food.  It’s just a fun and interesting place- full of people and all different types of interesting treats.  DSC_0012 DSC_0011We spotted an extra long line at one of the Amish vendors and walked around to see that the line was for fresh, warm, homemade donuts.DSC_0013 And not just plain donuts!  Every type of donut you can imagine.  They even had maple bacon, but I’m not a bacon person (GASP!).DSC_0031 While you wait in the (long) line, you can watch them make the donuts and fill them with all the fun flavors.DSC_0018 DSC_0026 DSC_0030I turned to Russ and said “I want a donut!”…and then we bought 12.  Whoops.  We really just wanted to try a bunch of them and his roommates were willing to help eat them.DSC_0036

As soon as we got home, we tried a bunch of them.  My favorite was the apple fritter, caramel apple, candy apple, and Boston cream.  MMMM.DSC_0042 DSC_0044

After going into a sugar coma, I ended up sleeping for 3 hours and woke up to go food shopping with Russ.  To continue the day of eating my feelings, Russ and I made mac and cheese for dinner (from scratch!).DSC_0052 This was our third ever attempt at mac and cheese and the first time it was successful!  We always try to skip around the flour part…but that’s not possible.  Flour= everything.DSC_0057While it baked, we worked out with stair running, bear crawls, and a lot (I mean, A LOT) of burpees.  It made the mac and cheese all the more worth it!  After a quick shower and making a salad, we had dinner.  So cheesy and so, so, so good.  To make that clear, the entire pan was gone in like 10 hours.DSC_0060Sunday started bright and early.  I headed back to school, went for a four mile run (and my knee started to hurt, which further confirmed by decision not to run the marathon or half), and then had a day of shenanigans with the three best friends that anybody could have.

This week should fly by and then next week is THANKSGIVING.  Can’t wait.DSC_0228Have a great week 🙂
