11 Things I Noticed as Soon as I Arrived in the USA

I made it back to the good ole USA late last night after over 14 hours of travel, a thorough security check (I was the last one on the plane and then entire plane had to wait 45 minutes for me!) and then it took over 3 hours to get home from the airport.  I was exhausted when I landed and was more than ready to hit the hay, but without a phone to entertain me on my journey home, I was able to make a list of all of the things I almost immediately noticed upon landing in the US.

1 // From the plane- the cars are HUGE here, and so are the highways… 3, 4, even 5 lanes!

2 // The people in the airport are SO RUDE and loud

3 // There are so many red lights!  Drive, stop, drive, stop

4 // The train was FREEZING!  The air conditioning could have kept the milk fresh for a few days.

5 // The yards are so green- so many trees and green grass

6 // At a restaurant with Sarah this morning, I found it so strange that the waitress said “so are we ready to order?”… who is we?  Are you ordering too?

7 // Also that the waitress kept coming back to ask if we are ready

8 // Big glasses of water! with ice! and lemon!  And this place had self service water so we could drink as much as we wanted

9 // tax and tip in restaurants… your meal goes from one price to another right before your eyes!

10 // everyone dresses so casually here…workout clothes, leggings, flimsy flip flops

11 // The bathrooms are strange – everything is automatic (soap, water, toilets, paper towels), and that you can see much leg under the stalls and you can see between the stalls.

That’s all for now!  Happy Thursday!  I am off to the pool for some sun and reading.
