A Really Great Hump Day

Good morning and Happy THURSDAY!  Wow, this week has just flown by (love when that happens!).  I wanted to pop in and share a little about my day yesterday (Wednesday a.k.a Hump Day!) since it was a good day.  I guess it was probably such a good day because I worked for….2 hours, but hey, that’s the life I’m livin’.

I actually only worked for 2 hours because I planned to have an interview with another company similar to VIPKID, but during the interview, their platform was so glitchy and weird that I decided it’s probably for the best NOT to work for them.  VIPKID all the way.

My day started around 9 am (I know…) after I snoozed for over an hour.  It was one of those mornings where you snooze and each time you snooze, you fall back into this deep, dreamy sleep.  But 9:00 was my maximum because I wanted to get to the gym and be home by 10:15.  I had to laugh when all of my gym companions were of the senior variety.wed1

I completed 20 minutes of incline walking (my gym buddies were doing it too) and then took myself through a 30 minute NTC workout.

Once I was nice and sweaty, I popped into the fruit store to get some ingredients for homemade salsa and then headed home to prep for my interview.wed2

About 30 seconds in, their program froze and was completely glitchy and weird, so that was that.  I felt bad for the sweet students that were there, but it’s probably better not to work for them.

As soon as that finished, I answered some e-mails, cleaned up my room, and then jumped in the shower and ate a quick breakfast.wed3

I taught two hours of VIPKID, but one of the classes got cancelled so I used that time to make salsa for a dinner my roommates and I went to.  So I work, work, worked on VIPKID and it was great because these kids were all older.  Usually my students are pretty young, which can be draining, but these kids were so well behaved.

The second it ended, I got changed and met my new friend Sarah for beers and hilarious conversations.  We met at a bar in Lavapies because she had an appointment there after.wed4

She seriously cracks me up and I am SO SAD she might be leaving for good next month.  The good news is she will be going home to attend a school like 15 minutes from my house, so our paths are destined to cross.

Once that was finished, I headed to my next Retired person activity of the day, which was my ceramics class!  I bought a 1 month package and last night was the last night!  I was so excited to see the pots I made and chuckled when I saw how… “homemade” they look.  Hahaha.

But I like them and they are a nice little home for my plant babies!  I have 3 more that will be ready next week!!  I don’t think I will renew for more classes right now, but it’s definitely something I would do again.  It was so fun to learn how to make pots correctly, as opposed to the way you learn in art classes in elementary school.wed5

And then, last but not least, my roommates and I planned a big dinner with the girls that live in the apartment above ours since they are also English speakers/ young.wed8

We have been here like 6 months and haven’t made it happen, but last night we did!  And it was so much fun!  We all brought ingredients for tacos and had a good time.wed9

And that’s it!  I fell asleep full of tacos, bad wine, and delicious brownies…and happiness.
