Checking In

Hello, hello!  I didn’t have much to write about yesterday, hence the collaborative post you saw.  If you’re interested in a quick recap of my weekend, here it is: Friday, I had a tour with a lovely couple from South Carolina who had the most southern accents I have ever heard.  They were so sweet and nice!  When I got home, Luis and I watched an episode of Homeland and now I am OBSESSED.  From there, we went to Calle Ponzano, which is a hoppin’ street for bar hopping.  We had plans to go to Sala de Despiece, which was recommended in my class, but it was so full that we couldn’t get in.  We went to a few other bars and called it a night.  On Saturday, I cleaned some things, went for a run and did NTC with Luis, and then spent the afternoon working on the computer.  That night, we went to dinner and then out with a group of his friends and let’s say I may have had more than 2 glasses of wine… and it was a super fun night… and we got home at 6.30 in the morning.  Sunday I slept most of the day and felt pretty wrecked, obviously, and when I woke up, we had breakfast and then I went back to bed.  Eventually I got up, made bagels for a client, went for a 25 minute run, quickly showered, and then went and did a tour.  At night, we watched 2 episodes of Homeland and went to bed after 1 in the morning which is a dumb thing to do on a Sunday night.  Monday I worked ALL DAY on my various websites and nooooow, here we are.

Making: my websites!  Right now, I am working on 4 different websites which is absolutely insane, but I really enjoy the creative process of making them look pretty.  For my business class, I am working on a site for my fake business, which helps me visualize the concept and see what it might look like in the future.
Cooking:  yesterday I made a dish that had sauteed butternut squash with gnocchi, sauteed kale, vegetable broth, and parmesan cheese.  It was so simple and so tasty.
Drinking: black coffee and a glass of water.
Reading:  Little Fires Everywhere.  I downloaded it from the library after seeing it on Instagram, but I am very slowly making my way through it as I’m not really sure how much I actually like it… let’s see if I finish it before the rental expires.
Wanting: new jeans, new sweaters, and a couple tops for going out.  But I am putting that off for now.
Looking: forward to this weekend!  We are taking a trip to a bodega!
Eating: lots of bagels… we have over 40 bagels in the freezer right now and someone’s gotta eat them, so I volunteer.
Wishing: that some of these small side projects start to take off.  I put so much time and effort into them that I would be thrilled if they turned into anything.
Enjoying: this new schedule I have!  I do a couple tours a week, but on the other days, I have a lot of time to work in Bruja’s Bakery and work on other projects.  It’s been a lot less stressful and chaotic.
Loving: this fall-like weather in Madrid.  There might not be any pumpkin-spiced things or apple picking on my radar, but the cooler (and sunny) weather is definitely nice.  I am hoping we can get in some good hikes before it gets cold.
Hoping: that my Vipkid students actually show up today so that I can earn some $.
Listening: to this song, at the moment, so good.

Feeling: hungry.  I am going to post this and make myself a bagel with pb and more coffee.
Wearing: running shorts, shirt, and hoodie.  Luis and I went running at 7 am this morning and despite feeling a little sleepy right now, I love that we did it!  We ALWAYS talk about it, but doing it is another story.  Let’s see if we can go Thursday morning, as well.  I would love for us to get into a habit of working out 2 mornings per week before it gets really cold, when we won’t want to do it.
Watching: HOMELAND!  Usually that kind of show is not my cup of tea, but I am SO SUCKED IN!  Watch it.
Bookmarking:  this recipe for Healthy Kale and Mushroom Stirfry.  I have been totally into mushrooms, so this looks tasty, and I will probably add rice to it.
