I RAN SIX MILES WITH NO KNEE PAIN!!!

I ain’t gonna count no chickens before they hatch, but I’m pretty excited that this physical therapy seems to be doing something.  I would be lying if I said that I don’t have a pretty negative outlook when it comes to rehabilitating injuries.  I don’t know why, but I get frustrated if things don’t get fixed RIGHT. THIS. INSTANT.  That little trait of mine is frustrating in and of itself, too.  I mean, back in high school, I fractured my finger and wore a finger cast FOR A YEARA FINGER CASTFor a year!  Maybe you see why I am sort of apprehensive when it comes to rehabilitation.

Anyways, much to my surprise, PT is working and it’s helping and it’s great.  So I was going to do my usual three mile jog and then go to the gym for a few minutes today, but I was feeling lazy and- bear with me because this is backwards- but I wasn’t feeling all that work, but for some reason, I decided that a long run was so much less daunting than running AND going to the gym.  Crazy, yes, but effective.  The thought of running through the trails at my own pace was so much more appealing than running AND going to the gym AND doing ab work.  Know what I mean?  No?

Long story short, I ran six miles on the trails with the sun shining through the trees and the perfect crisp fall air.  And best of all, no knee pain.  I almost hugged my physical therapist tonight, but that would be weird…

Like I said, no counting any chickens before they hatch, but I feel good about this.  Now…for that little marathon coming up in a month and two days.  Ah, we’ll cross that bridge line when we get there.
